Pop sensation Katy Perry poses for fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the May 2017 edition of American Vogue. The “Work of Art” cover story is styled by fashion editor Grace Coddington, with hair styling by Julien d’Ys. Makeup artistry is the work of Lauren Parsons (Art Partner), manicure by Rieko Okusa (Susan Price NYC), and set design by Andrea Stanley (Streeters). In the May cover story Katy Perry drops her cutesy style, wearing designs from Comme des Garcons, going androgynous, architectural, and political.
“Fashion is just a language,” says Perry. “It’s storytelling. I am so encouraged by the big morph in fashion that’s happening at the moment. Everybody is shape-shifting, changing, adapting.” No one more than Perry herself, it would seem.
